Your First Melange
A Melange: A collaborative story, containing words and pictures, told over a series of oblong bits of paper, by Laurie & Sj.
There are two types of Melange.
- The type where Laurie draws a picture and hands it to Sj. Sj writes the story under the picture.
- The type where Sj writes a bit of story and hands it to Laurie. Laurie draws a picture above the writing
Melange has a two most important rules:
- One picture/paragraph of story at a time.
- Neither collaborator is aware of the content the other is contributing
If I am drawing the pictures, Sj doesn’t know what picture I’m drawing next, just as I am in the dark about what she’s writing at the bottom of the pictures. And vice versa, if Sj is writing the story first.
(It’s more challenging and often more fun if I do the pictures first, as it requires Sj to interpret what’s happening)
